A Campaign against proposals for a smoking ban in public places is already
generating support, say the organisers. The Freedom2Choose campaign, which
is said to have supporters the length and breadth of Britain, was officially
launched in Port Talbot last Wednesday. One of the campaign leaders in
South Wales, Chris Evans, who is manager of K E Vending in Port Talbot,
believes smokers should have a voice.
"The idea of a ban is not clear-cut and attention needs to be paid
on how this is going to affect livelihoods," he said.
"Evidence from Ireland has shown that trade in pubs is down because
people are being prevented from smoking in them." . . .
"I am not advocating smoking but I think pubs need segregated smoking
areas."
