A court in Muncie, Delaware was told on Thursday that, “the 2006 Surgeon General’s report, and studies with similar findings, were based on “cherry-picked” statistics used to support a preconceived finding.”
Dr. John Dale Dunn then went on to describe the amount of atmospheric smoke inhaled by a non-smoker living with a smoker as carrying, “virtually no health risks.”
The court is listening to evidence brought by a consortium of business owners who are fighting to reverse a ban on smoking in taverns. Typical of the complaints heard are those of Danyelle Cross, whose bar takings this year have fallen by a fifth with the loss of two jobs and continued threat of closure.
As one of our forum members commented:
Could you imagine any bar owners saying that their business would close unless a smoking ban was made compulsory?
