The Truth about Smoking Bans, another perspective
Today, Ireland has admitted what we all know -the smoking ban does not work! Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer at the Irish Department of Health, says this:
We really haven’t shifted prevalence of smoking by any appreciable extent beyond what it was prior to the implementation of the ban; we are at about 28 to 30 per cent,
You would think that, in light of this fact, the Irish would cut their losses and do themselves a huge economical favour – but no! They will not do that.
Instead, Dr Holohan proposes to make the lives of millions more Irishmen and women miserable by combining smoking, drinking and obesity into one package, making it easier to dictate to the whole population how they must live their lives.
It strikes me as something of a Kamikaze mentality to admit that something does not work – then immediately propose to extend the same ideology to encompass almost the entire population of a country!
