Well folks, not oft that I return to a subject once written but this needs maximum exposure and certainly maximum attendance.
The story of one fool and his smokefree dream has certainly captured to media’s attention (as most fools do) but this attention can, and probably will, act as a spur to both sides of the debate. Councillor Paul Bartlett sees himself as a self-styled Bloomberg puppet, thus smoking must be banned in Stony Stratford asap-for the greater good you see! The problem here being that he takes no heed of those that choose to smoke. It makes no difference whether these people-yes smokers ARE people-actually enjoy having a drag here and there, Mr Bartlett wants all smokers’ enjoyment banished to the outer limits of Stony Stratford -AND BEYOND!
We are at a very dangerous crossroads here folks for should a seed take root, even on ‘stony’ ground then that seed might flourish. Hence, if this seed of Bloomberg Bartlett lunacy doth grow a root in Stony Stratford who knows where this may end? Be severely aware smokers that this man wants your pleasures banished from this goodly land-and no messing. He is even going to address his local council on the matter with a view to amending/introducing bye-laws to gain his required state of smokefree. Smokers DO NOT enter into the equation. They are to eradicated forthwith. Of course, this idiot has not considered the impact on local businesses either, but then he has only one blinkered goal, he does not see it as a step to far in the slightest-but we do.
However, folks, do not despair for this is the time for a revolt-against a revolting person and none other than fellow scribbler Dick Puddlecote is leading the charge.
Stub Out the Stony Stratford Smoking Ban
is the cry from Puddlecote Towers and a mass protest is being planned for saturday 16th of July (11.30pm-2.30pm) to let him know (Bartlett) that he has a fight on his hands. DP has organised a facebook page for people to pledge allegiance to this day of action and I would ask that you please take it upon yourselves to get to Stony Stratford for this very, very important protest. If you do not ‘do’ facebook then please contact me on clubliaisons@freedom2choose.info and I will pass your names on to Mr Puddlecote immediately. Dick P has this to say: –
“We’ll be meeting at The Vaults Bar – a * real* traditional ‘local’ in the High Street opposite the church – at lunchtime on Saturday 16th July, where the Landlord is offering us exclusive use of the main bar… facing onto the street, as well as the run of his comfortable courtyard.”
Having attended last week’s House of Commons reception on behalf of 42 struggling pubs & clubs I am ‘gutted’ at having to miss this all important protest but ‘mine host’ of The Vaults will be receiving posters & literature forthwith from this quarter to display and bolster the campaign. Friend Puddlecote has also intimated that the local press have been alerted as have other prominent people so let’s get together and make this one count. I cannot impress upon you how important it is to see this lunatic defeated-not just beaten down but thoroughly routed for if this crackpot idea takes root in Stony Stratford………
