The apprentice politician, now purporting to run the country in the absence of ‘Call me Dave‘ famously aligned amending the smoking ban with bringing back the death penalty-such is his mentality. Yet ‘bringing in the death penalty’ is exactly what is happening in our society believe it or not.

The “Vending Machine Ban”, after a ruling by the High Court last December, will see all cigarette machines taken out of pubs, clubs and restaurants by October. An appeal by Imperial Tobacco was denied by a 2-1 vote in the court of appeal. This always mystifies me as how can one judge interpret the law in favour of the plaintiff yet the other two against-if the plaintiff has a case then the plaintiff has a case, surely all three must see the same legal points! Still, that is of no matter really as we are talking within the sphere of smoking related legal issues and it is exceedingly obvious now that the ’cause’ is outweighing all else and distorting the judicial process!

Rod Bullough, the director of Duckworth’s Vending Machines on Clifton Road, Blackpool runs his firm in the area, employing 30 staff-well he used to! Since the implementation of the smoking ban Rod Bullough has been forced to lay off 50% of his staff and now sees his business closing altogether-due to the incessant badgering of fake charities like ASH et al. Thanks to ASH, and their ilk, Mr Bullough faces the prospect of folding up his lifetimes work, releasing his other 15 members of staff and signing on himself!

Not unrealistically Mr Bullough wants compensation from the government for the loss of his business – and I, for one, fully agree with him!

Paul Maynard, Conservative MP for Blackpool has uttered his sympathies and says he will speak to colleagues but that will do no good whatsoever until ASHites are deprived of government funding which incites them to even greater heights of control mongering. Mr Maynard knows what it is like to be victimised as he suffers from cerebral palsy – much to the apparent amusement of some Labour MPs.

But, back to Mr Bullough’s unsavoury position where he states, ” “If this is Government policy and they want to ban vending machines, they should pay the people who own the vending machines for what they are worth.” I couldn’t agree more Mr B and the 9,000 other businesses that have gone the same way should also sue the government for compensation. The government, via the World Health Organisation, want smoking eradicated as they feel it will cut down on NHS costs but they completely fail to recognise that cancer rates are increasing though they happily trumpet supposedly decreasing smoking rates!

The Dutch bar owners are filing for damages against their government so why shouldn’t our long suffering ex-businessmen & women? In the meantime, we now know that the death penalty is back, with a new executioner-ASH! Your personal property (car) will be next!
