Anti-tobacco campaigner and great friend of ASH (globally), Baroness Thornton has denounced the tobacco industry for delaying the implementation of the tobacco display ban. Well diddleyboo you silly woman!

I fear this has upset the good baroness (she doesn’t deserve a ‘G’ or ‘B’) for she states ” the18-month delay may result in 4,000 young people and children becoming addicted to tobacco, with the consequent long-term health effects.”  Err, excuse me a minute woman, what do you mean “may”? It “may” also mean 4,000 young people might become addicted to chocolate, or milky sweets or gummy bears-who knows other devilry lats behind the counter of the local newsagent. And as for ill health, well, with all the polluted air we breathe in, who needs to smoke these days?

It might even prevent 4,000 small businesses going OUT of business – or doesn’t that matter? You see, yet again we are inundated with the words ASH love to use, “maymaybecouldcould bepossibleattributableestimated atestimates say thatprobable saving etc, there are too many compilations to list them all but safe to say ASH and their disciples have their own handbook full of them.

Baroness Thornton rejected claims that “the legislation will have an adverse effect on the small shops.” Well no surprise there then for ASH rejected any notion of pubs closing and even back up the ludicrous Bauld review that trumpets, “…the introduction of smokefree legislation has a net positive effect on businesses”  and that’s after 9,000 closures of various businesses! You see, lies don’t just emanate from the minions anymore, they come from the very top of the hierarchy – a baroness no less! Enjoy this demonstrationof why the Bauld ‘academic review’ was proven to be complete & utter rubbish!

She (the chocolate peer) followed up with, “It has become increasingly clear that what purported to be a cry of pain from thousands of small retailers was really a covert and dishonest campaign by the tobacco industry.” There truly is no hope for the honest folk of this land when idiots spout garbage like this. So no matter what the poor old shopkeeper says…..he’s liar, because you say so. Well Baroness peabrain Thornton, I suggest you get your not so aged ass into the real world, go and have a look at what is happening in this country. As you were previously ‘Under Secretary for Health’ I fully understand your penchant for cuddling up with ASH but you are also supposed to be looking after the welfare of people in general. Closing hundreds of small shops does not come under ‘welfare of the people’!

You, sitting there calling the tobacco industry for delaying implementation of something that you cannot prove “may” or “may not” be beneficial is very much of the ‘pot calling the kettle black’ syndrome-for what was ASH’s ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ campaign all about eh?
